Top 3 Ways to Protect Your Business From Outages

Service outages can be some of the most disruptive events that a business faces.  But there are some steps that you can do to mitigate the impact to your business.

1.  Backup Internet:  One of the easiest things you can do it get a second internet connection.  Ideally it would use a different path into the building than your primary connection.  For example if you have fiber for your primary, then having a redundant connection that comes in via coax cable or wireless would give you more protection.

2.  Dual Internet:  Having your connection failover to a secondary connection is good, but having two connections that are both running in an active/active environment using SD WAN is even better.  This allows you to utilize both connections and see if there are any issues with either connection even before an outage occurs plus there is not switching everything happens automatically.

3.  Hosted Phone System:  If an outage does occur, you don't want to miss any calls.  With a hosted phone system, your calls can be:  automatically forwarded to another branch, forwarded to mobile phones, or answered by an auto attendant or voicemail.  If/when an outage does occur, quite often your customers may not even realize there is an issue.
